In Vitro Fertilization

What is In Vitro Fertilization?

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a treatment method that can be applied for couples who want to have a baby and cannot have a baby for various reasons. IVF treatment aims to fertilize eggs and sperm in a laboratory environment, to place the embryos formed in the uterus and to conceive the expectant mother. In the light of this method, expectant parents are involved in a treatment process with various stages. This treatment process is a promising process. We care that couples who choose us for IVF treatment feel safe first and foremost. For this reason, we ensure that our expectant parents manage this process in a peaceful environment in cooperation with our team who easily understand each other. We know that the needs of each couple are different and in this direction, we guide the whole treatment process with our professional team.

Expectant mothers under 35 years of age for 1 year, expectant mothers over 35 years of age for 6 months, expectant mothers over 40 years of age for 3 months, if they have not been able to conceive despite regular sexual intercourse, it is definitely recommended to consult an IVF specialist to be evaluated in terms of fertility.

Eggs, sperm and uterus are needed for pregnancy to occur. Each one needs to be evaluated separately in terms of fertility. The fallopian tubes, which act as a channel or bridge, also play an important role. If there are no eggs and sperm, in vitro fertilization cannot be performed and donation treatments are recommended.

IVF treatment aims to identify the existing problems of couples, to resolve these problems and to enable couples to have children.

For this purpose, tests and examinations are performed to determine the existing problems, the problems are eliminated according to the results of the examinations (surgery, etc.) and the prospective parents are taken into the treatment program.

In Cyprus, a civil marriage is not required for IVF treatments. The number of embryos planned to be transferred in our country is maximum 3 according to the law. For this reason, Cyprus has become an attractive country due to the absence of a marriage requirement and the high number of embryos transferred.

IVF Treatment Process

Treatment is started on the 2nd or 3rd day of the expectant mother’s menstruation. If there are no conditions such as asynchronous egg development, cysts, etc. As a result of the examination, treatment is preferably started by performing hormone tests such as Estradiol-Lh-Progesterone.
A treatment protocol is determined according to the age, weight and egg reserve of the expectant mother. The most preferred of these protocols is the antagonist protocol (known as the short protocol). In this protocol, hormone injections are started at the dose deemed appropriate. The duration of treatment may vary from person to person. During this period, the number, size, development rate and intrauterine evaluation of the eggs are performed by vaginal ultrasound every 2-3 days.
When the eggs reach a sufficient number and size, a trigger shot is given, and egg collection is planned after 34-36 hours.
The last stage in the treatment process is the trigger shot hcg injection. The day and time of administration of the hatching needle trigger shot is very important because it affects the success of the treatmen. For this reason, the time difference between countries should be taken into consideration when determining the time of injection.
The expectant parents should be in Cyprus 24 hours after the trigger shot and 24 hours before the oocyte pick-up procedure.
